Teacher in Trouble for Drinking Alcohol During Working Hours.

A teacher of Gwengdiya primary school in Awach sub county Gulu district is in trouble for drinking alcohol during working hours.
Tokson Odong, who is 52 years old was arrested on Monday morning at around 9:00 a.m from a bar and whisked to Aswa police station by the Awach sub county councilor, Christopher Opiyo Ateker.
The school head teacher Francis Okello says Odong`s arrest was led by concerned members of the community who identified the suspect in a bar yet he should be at school.
Okello says by his time of arrest Odong was on duty and expected to be in class for normal teaching routines.
The area councilor, Ateker says it is becoming a common vice for teachers to go out drinking while on duties.
The former Awach sub county speaker, Richard Watmon confirmed this in a telephone interview with our reporter saying that the arrest will serve as an example to other government workers who drink alcohol during working hours and evade their duties.
