Thirty Two Children Isolated With Measles in Amuru.

Thirty two children aged five and below have been isolated with cases of measles in Amuru district.
Thirteen of them are receiving treatment at Attiak Health Centre VI in Attiak Sub County, two at Otwee Town Council Health Centre III and 17 from Lacor and Palema are isolated at St Mary`s Hospital Lacor in Gulu.
Apollo Geoffrey Okello, the Amuru district secretary for health says the cases were recorded from Pawel parish in Attiak, Akurukwe and Palema parishes all in Lamogi Sub County and Otwee Town Council last week then tested and confirmed from different health facilities in the district.
Okello says a district task force headed by the district surveillance officer, Milton Okello from Attiak Health Centre VI was on Monday formed to monitor, sensitize and report suspected cases of measles in the district.
The Amuru District Health Officer, Patrick Olwedo confirmed this, he says analysis and compiling the list of the reported cases is on-going so that samples can be taken to the ministry of health this week for further actions.
Measles is an acute and highly contagious viral disease that occurs primarily in children aged five years and below. It is marked by runny nose, dry hacking cough, conjunctivitis, inflamed eyes, watery eyes and sensitivity to light.
