Lamwo RDC Pledges to Intensify Security at South Sudan Border.

The newly appointed Resident District Commissioner-RDC for Lamwo, Nabinson James kidega has pledged to intensify security at the porous border with South Sudan.
Kidega who assumed his office on Friday said the major concerns of Lamwo especially in Padibe West and Palabek Sub Counties are recurrent attacks by South Sudan cattle raiders, smuggling and illegal entry of South Sudanese refugees in the district with firearms.
These he said are the major security threats in the district that need to be addressed with immediate effect. He noted that his office will conduct several security meetings with security officers in bordering Magwi state on how best the security matters can be addressed.
He further said the porous border will be sealed by heavy security deployment and also fresh registration of refugees in the different resettlement camps in the district for easy tracking of entries and exits.
Lamwo is the nearest district to South Sudan stretching 150 Kilometers from North East to North West of Magwi State. Lamwo district Chief Finance Officer Patrick Olila says it hosts 54.000 South Sudan refugees.
Nabinson James Kidega has replaced Jonathan Rutabingwa as RDC in the recent reshuffle of RDCs countrywide by President Yoweri Museveni.
