Panic in Nwoya District Over State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

The operation of State House Anti-Corruption Unit has equally sent waves of fear among councilors of Nwoya District.
The District speaker, Tonny Okello on Tuesday issued a strong warning to councilors cautioning them against corruption or else they will face arrest by the unit.
He says police is already investigating some of the District councilors who have been writing letters authorizing the return of evicted herdsmen and soliciting bribe from commercial farm owners to cover crimes.
Okello advised that the councilors should be very critical this period when the state house anti-corruption unit is operating urging that the unit can fuel over ten vehicles only to come and arrest a person who could have embezzled just UGX 5000.
He told the District and Technocrats during a special full council meeting on Tuesday that government is determined to dispose corrupt people.
” let`s be very critical especially this period what we do as far money is concerned even 5000 shillings they will fuel ten vehicles to come for you. The government doesn`t mind of the expenditure they will meet, the cost for your cry, they will not bother.” Okello warned.
The speaker backed his statement with the arrest of Attiak Sub County Chairperson in Amuru, Wilfred Odiya Baguma for forging documents and Omoro District driver Goddy Otto for misusing government vehicle.
Nwoya District officer in-charge of criminal investigation, Simon Peter Ocitti told the council on Tuesday that some councilors are being investigated over several criminal activities.
