Sub County Speaker in Nwoya in Trouble for Extortion.

Samson Lukwiya, the Purongo Sub County Speaker in Nwoya district is in trouble for alleged extortion of one million shillings from two boda boda motorcyclists.
Lukwiya was picked by police on Tuesday evening from Purongo trading centre after information emerged that he pocketed the money from Daniel Watmon and Charles Omona in order to recover their impounded motorcycles.
The Bajaj motorcycles registration numbers, UEM 021Z and UEJ 228Y belonging to Omona and Watmon respectively were impounded by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers on the 14th April 2019 for allegedly using them to ferry wild meat from Murchison falls parks.
The two disclosed during a joint meeting of Purongo Sub County Boda Boda Association, sub county leaders and security officials whom the Nwoya district police commander, OCCID and resident commissioner were present.
They narrated that each of them contributed UGX 500,000 after the speaker told them he would give the money to police to recover their motorcycles.
The chairperson Purongo Boda Boda Motorcyclists Association, Richard Okello Kitara says the meeting followed deteriorating relationships between UWA rangers and boda boda.
Nwoya district police officer in-charge of criminal investigation, Simon Peter Ocitti confirmed the arrest saying Lukwiya was detained at Anaka police station but later released on bond as more investigation continues.
Adwarping understands that a meeting of police and local leaders of Nwoya was being held at Anaka police station over the matter. Some leaders say the arrest was politically prompted. By
