L.O.P Forced to Trek 3 Kilometers in Protest of Bad Road.

Angry residents of Bardege Division in Gulu Municipality on Monday 12th/8/2019
forced the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Betty Aol Ocan to trek for three kilometers in protest of bad road.
The L.O.P had paid an impromptu visit to hundreds of people who had gathered at the Gulu Municipal Council offices demanding answers for bad roads in their area.
They had earlier in the morning blocked the five kilometers Oola Lubara road which connects Gulu Town to St Mary`s Hospital Lacor via Gulu airfield and Mako Ware House and Gulu Archdiocese cathedral Church.
The residents led by Bardege Division Chairperson, Patrick Oola Lumumba tasked the L.O.P not to enjoy the comfort of her vehicle but to walk with them and taste the bad conditions of the road which had lasted for close to six years.
They accompanied Aol from the Gulu Municipal Council office up to the residence of Yusuf Adek Okwonga the clan chief of Pageya.
Aol who was dressed in her light green “gomesi “and a shiny black shoe moved for over two hours in the company of her four body guards who all ended up with muddy feet and dirty clothes.
The L.O.P said in an interview from the chief’s palace that she accepted to move in solidarity with the suffering people whose plight for better services has since not been addressed.
Earlier the crowd led by Bardege Division Chairperson, Patrick Oola Lumumba used vehicles tyre’s, boulders, logs, to block the road, they also mockingly planted crops on the road arguing that it has become a garden.
They later moved to the Gulu Municipal Council office from where Terence Okwonga, the Municipal engineer assured them that the road will next year in January be upgraded at a tune of six billion shillings.
