Pine Avenue 5 music group has strongly condemned allegations that they bribed the HiPipo music competition and walked away with the prestigious award for the best music group.

The award ceremony was held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala on the 4th of February 2017. It attracted various artists, music groups, dance groups, models and many from and outside Uganda.

Since then there has been a lot of allegations and reactions on social media and the main stream media that the music group bribed the organizers of the event to grab their price.

A publication on Friday 17th February 2017 carried an article saying that the music group paid 500.000 shillings to win the award. It reads, ‘’our source said Pine Avenue5 dug deep into their pockets to carry the award home. It cost them Shs500,000.’’

OJ-Maxwell one of the artists in the group expressed shock with people who do not want to concede defeat but instead tarnish their names noting that the allegations are not true.

‘’am always getting shocked. I don`t know why people don`t want to concede defeat. This is not true but it will help me proof to them that I am worth this award.’’ He argued.

OJ-Maxwell says the award has been a milestone in the development and prosperity of the music group because much more people now want to know them and do collaborations with them.

According to him they grabbed the award because more funs followed them and voted for them.

MC-WangJok also an artist in the group wondered that people do not want to take defeat but instead accuse one another.

‘’I hope people should take winning for winning and losing for losing.’’ He noted.

The spokesperson for Pine Avenue5 Felix Okun says they won the award basing on support from their fans but never pulled single cent to bribe the organizers. He said if the group had money to bribe the occasion then why not other music groups like Good Life, and other crews.

‘’How much money do we have that Radio and Weasel cannot get to buy this award?’’ He questioned.

He says the award is an honor to the people of Northern Uganda which hosts the music group.

Pine Avenue5 won the award against their rivals da New Eagles, B2C, Radio and Weasel, Viva Stars and City Rock Entertainment.

Pine Avenue5 started in 2012 with its headquarters in Pece Division an outskirt of Gulu town. The group comprises of local artists including MC-Wangjok, Pretty B, OJ-Maxwell among others.
